AMA Supercross 2012, St Louis - 250 Lites East Class Main Event

It was a Raptor Titanium rider domination on Saturday night as Justin Barcia took yet another blistering holeshot followed closely by Ken Roczen and Justin Bogle. With clear track ahead of him, Barcia was able to open up a three second lead within the first three laps. Roczen began to lose ground on Barcia as the experienced Geico Honda rider edge out a lead on him, with Bogle began pressuring the Raptor Titanium and KTM Red Bull USA rider for the number two position.

Further back, Raptor Titanium and Motoconcepts sponsored rider Jake Canada was having his best ride of the season, and possibly of his career, while running in fourth ahead of Blake Wharton and Darryn Durham. As the laps wore on, Wharton was slowly able to close on Canada and by lap 11, made the pass to take over fourth place.

Back out front, Barcia continued to extend his lead and by the last lap had an eight second lead on Roczen. Bogle continued to pressure Roczen until the last lap, when the Honda rider made a mistake just before the step-over jump, falling in the tight right hander. Upon trying to remount, he dropped his bike again, getting passed by Wharton in the process before getting going again. At the finish Justin Barcia took his third win in a row. Roczen, Wharton, Durham, and Bogle completed the top five.

2012 AMA Supercross, St Louis - Supercross Class Main Event

JGR Yamaha's Davi Millsaps grabbed the holeshot just ahead of Geico Honda and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Kevin Windham, Justin Brayton, and Ryan Villopoto. On the opening lap, just before the first triple, James Stewart went down, dropping all the way to last place.

Millsaps was able to hold Villopoto off for the first two laps before succumbing to the defending champ's speed. Behind Millsaps were Brayton and Ryan Dungey, who had worked his way up from a mid-pack start.

Again in the battle for second Brayton and Dungey both managed to make their way around Millsaps just before the step over jump. Brayton put in some excellent laps, but Dungey seemed to have a bit more speed in certain sections of the track. Soon enough, Millsaps had dropped several positions, being displace by Windham as well and was suddenly being pressured by his own teammate, Stewart who had worked his way into sixth place. In the closing laps, Stewart was finally able to make the pass on Millsaps, moving up to fifth place.
Out front, Villopoto slowed significantly in the closing laps, allowing Dungey to get well within striking distance had Villopoto made a mistake. But the mistake never came, and Villopoto took his fifth win of the season. Dungey finished a close second, with Brayton, Windham, and Stewart rounding out the top five. Barring any disastrous results or injuries, it's now a two-horse race between Dungey and Villopoto for the Supercross title in 2012. Good luck to Dungey on Raptor Titanium footpegs!

Raptor Titanium and KTM Red Bull USA's Marvin Musquin also put in an astonishing 9th place in his first ever Supercross Main Event start aboard the 350SX-F KTM.

It was another super successful weekend for our sponsored riders all over Europe and in the US this weekend as Raptor Titanium sponsored riders took wins at the 2012 pre-season events at Hawkstone Park International MX, International MX Lacapelle-Marival, a podium place at the Spanish MX championship Albaida and wins in both 450 Supercross Main Event and 250 East Lites Class in the AMA SX in Atlanta on Saturday night!

Hawkstone Park 2012 International MX

Rockstar Energy Suzuki's Clement Desalle was unbeatable at Hawkstone Park at the weekend as he swept to victory in both MX1 races, though Kawasaki Racing Team and Raptor Titanium's Gautier Paulin didn't make it easy for him all afternoon as they had some really great close races, with the rest of the field always battling amongst themselves in their wake. The superfinal saw Desalle shift up another gear though as Paulin had a bad start and Desalle cut his way up through path in a very impressive Superfinal performance, almost catching Monster Energy Factory Yamaha and Raptor Titanium's Arnaud Tonus on the YZ250F. KTM Red Bull UK and Raptor Titanium's Kevin Strijbos had a quiet but unassumingly fast day as he bagged an overall fourth for the day, and Yamaha and Raptor Titanium's Shaun Simpson had an excellent first race coming in third behind Desalle and Paulin, but had problems in the second race and the Superfinal, however looked very quick indeed in the run up the World and British Championships.

It was all about Monster Energy Factory Yamaha and Raptor Titanium's Arnaud Tonus in the MX2 Class as he cruised to victory in all three races, never losing first place all day. The Swiss looks in excellent form in the run-up to the World and British Championships now. KTM Red Bull UK and Raptor Titanium's Elliot Banks-Browne also looked in good form as he took a third in the first MX2 race, before mechanical problems with his ignition ruled him out of contention in the second MX2 race.

Lacapelle-Marival

The Raptor Titanium sponsored Pro Circuit Monster Energy CLS Kawasaki race team dominated another event in France this weekend as Christophe Pourcel took two wins and a second at the event, with Tommy Searle securing two thirds and a second place at the pre-season event in the run up to the World Championship GP season.

MX3 and Raptor Titanium sponsored ace Julian Bill also had an excellent day's racing as he put in a second, fifth and fourth finishing positions throughout the day, even beating Searle in the first race and securing an overall fourth place.

LS Honda Racing's Ken De Dycker put in a consistent performance as well as he comes back from injury last season in preparation for another go at the MX1 World Title in 2012 with an overall sixth place at Lacapelle.

Spanish MX Championship Albaida

LS Honda Racing and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Jonathan Barragan put in a fantastic performance as he landed a third place podium finish in his home country in Spain, despite suffering with a serious injury to his hand sustained only ten days previously.

AMA Supercross, Round 9 - East Lites Class

It was another convincing victory from Geico Honda and Raptor Titanium's Justin Barcia cruised to his second win in a row, claiming the holeshot and never looking back from there.
KTM Red Bull USA and Raptor Titanium's Ken Roczen seemed to be held up at the gate and struggled to make his way up through the field, however still securing a respectable sixth place.

AMA Supercross, Round 9 - 450 Main Event

Another super ride for KTM Red Bull USA and Raptor Titanium's Ryan Dungey as he got second out of the gate behind newcomer to the 450 class Cole Seely, who held him off very well until lap 8 when the more experienced KTM rider took an authoritative pass on the Factory Honda rider into the lead, where he managed to hold off a rampant Villopoto to the chequered flag.

Villopoto and Stewart both managed to work their way back up to second and third respectively after bad starts.

Hells Gate Extreme Enduro - A first and second for Walker and Jarvis in Italy!

In the 9th running of Fabio Fasola's Hells Gate Extreme Enduro KTM and Raptor Titanium sponsored rookie Jonny Walker made a serious attempt to win this prestigious event, however just couldn't get the better of the ultra-cool D3 Racing and Raptor Titanium sponsored Graham Jarvis, who utilized his vast experience to maintain astonishing consistency throughout the event.

The was weather more favorable than of recent and what could have been expected, but still the IL Ciocco resort mountain had enough snow and ice to challenge the worlds best extreme riders, race day would see mild temperatures with some sunshine.

Having made his debut one year earlier and gaining a top 10 finish Jonny was fortunate to have earned a seeded starting position, being number 4. The qualifying race started at 07.00 hours Saturday morning, still in the dark our Trailtech lights were needed on the first lap, 5 laps of just over 1 hour each would be the order with a special test on each lap except the opening lap.

The circuit had no real challenges for Jonny and he rode without risk or using unnecessary energy, trying to save himself and the bike for the night race. Jonny made light work of the special tests and rode well within his ability to make 4 safe results, his only issue was catching the slower riders in front, but at the end of the morning session he had a clear 40 second advantage over 2nd placed Jarvis. From the morning race the top 30 from 100 starters would qualify for the night stage, first place gave Jonny pole position for the Hells
Gate Extreme Enduro.

The end of the morning Enduro had just over 20 minutes to service the bike, fit new tyres and fit the special lights for the night . Jonny as expected took the holeshot and controlled the race at the front for most of the lap climbing up the mountain, on the decent he made a mistake and Jarvis passed and then when he dropped into one of the long steep river decents he found that his bike kept stalling because of the slow speeds, the tickover was just to low although had been fine for the faster morning race it was now a small but costly interference, after the first lap he was trailing Jarvis by 90 seconds.

OMidway through the 2nd lap Jonny crashed off the track down a very steep banking and got the bike so stuck that he thought his race was over, eventually he managed to get back up to the course but it had cost him more than 3 minutes. Now trailing Jarvis by over 4 minutes he made a pitstop for fuel and to adjust the carb, on lap 3 he set off with more confidence and managed to gain back more than 2 minutes on Graham.

Going into the 4th lap less than 2 minute separated the pair and at the end of the lap when he stopped for his second and final pitstop it looked possible that Jonny may catch Graham if he continued his pace, but Jarvis also responded and upped his game. The course being as brutal as ever was also quite fast which meant the leading riders pulled out quite a large lead early on, Walker and Jarvis set a pace that no other riders could follow, this meant that many riders would time out at the checkpoint, because if you fall 30 minutes behind the leader it is thank you and Ciao !!, With only a handful of riders still in the race and darkness closing in the organisers decided that 5 laps would be enough, just 4 riders started the last lap !!

Justin Barcia back in style as he takes first East Lites Main Event of the year!

250 East 15 lap Main Event

Darryn Durham took the opening holeshot of the East Lites series, inching ahead of Raptor Titanium sponsored Rockstar Energy Suzuki's Blake Wharton.

Wharton faultered and the Raptor Titanium and GEICO/Honda duo of Justin Bogle and Justin Barcia quickly took his place, inching up on Durham.

Barcia would eventually use his typical agressiveness on his teammate to take over first place and go for the lead. Meanwhile, it was great to see the World FIM MX2 Champion back in action as Raptor Titanium's Ken Roczen recovered from a slow start to begin pressuring Bogle as well.

On lap six, Barcia was finally able to position himself for a pass attempt on Durham after the first rhythm, but Durham countered at the next corner and Barcia was unable to clear the first triple. For several laps, the pair continued to battle until Barcia was finally able to make the pass stick, taking over first place.

In the battle for third, Raptor Titanium's Roczen and Bogle had been dicing for several laps before Roczen made a pass that stuck and secured a fantastic starting third place for the KTM Red Bull USA team. He was flying so much he nearly managed second, but Durham held him off to the end, but still a great result for the world champion. Raptor Titanium and Rockstar Energy Suzuki's Blake Wharton also managed a great fourth place to kick off his 2012 SX season.

Meanwhile, Geico Honda and Raptor Titanium's Justin Barcia took the win in emphatic style and opened the East Series in great fashion!

Supercross 20 lap Main Event

Raptor Titanium's Jeff Alessi got the holeshot in the Main Event but it did not take long for Ryan Villopoto and Chad Reed to take over the lead positions.

From there the duo would begin to break away from the rest of the pack. Further back, James Stewart had a mid pack start and on the second lap, he stalled his machine after the whoop section. He was taken out of major contention as his team mate Millsaps crashed into the back of him as he was getting his machine going again.

Up front, Villopoto and Reed continued to battle. Reed seemed poised to make his move at times, but would then lose a few feet to Villopoto depending on the section. Going into the sand section, Reed had been a bit faster than Villopoto, and looked poised to make a pass attempt until coming up short on a tricky but small triple that sent him over the bars and out of the race.

Ryan Dungey did not get the best of starts, however he slowly worked his way up through the pack. Mike Alessi proved to be a tough competitor, as Dungey, who has finished no worse than fourth this whole year so far, struggled to make a pass work on the number 800. He was eventually able to make his way past and then go after Jake Weimer who had been riding alone in second since Reed's crash.

In the closing laps, Dungey had closed in on Weimer. On lap 18 he attempted a pass, but it didnt work. On the next and final lap, he was finally able to make it stick in an aggressive move on Weimer. At the finish Villopoto nailed his third win in a row ahead of Dungey, Weimer, Mike Alessi, and a fantastic fifth for Raptor Titanium and Hart and Huntington Kawasaki's Josh Hansen.

Dungey claims another third at San Diego

The competition really heated up on Saturday night as our man of the moment Eli Tomac took a tumble in the 250 Lites Main Event and came in last place, surrendering his red plate to Pro Circuit's Dean Wilson; however KTM Red Bull USA and Raptor Titanium's Ryan Dungey put in another super-consistent performance coming in third place in the 450 Main Event retaining third place in the points standings, four points behind the Aussie Chad Reed but needs to stay on his toes if he wants to stay within striking distance of Double 2011 Champion Ryan Villopoto, last year's undisputed champion and the man to beat this year.

Tomac on a roll as he takes third win in a row at Anaheim 2

Round 5, Anaheim, CA - 2012 250 Lites Main Event

It was the Factory Honda ace Cole Seely who jumped out to another great start in front of his hometown crowd, followed closely by Raptor Titanium's Eli Tomac, Marvin Musquin, Nico izzi, and then Pro Circuit's Dean Wilson.

Tomac took the lead in lap 3 after Seely made a mistake and went down, still managing to retain second. Tomac never looked back from this point, and secured another impressive and convincing win, making it three on the bounce and going 22 points clear at the top of the points standings.

It was Factory Honda's Justin Brayton who jumped out to a great start ain the 450 Main Event at Anaheim, but overshot the turn allowing Ryan Villopoto and Chad Reed to slip by. A few mistakes in the whoops behind the lead pack caused some carnage, but out front Reed and Villopoto were in front. By the end of the first lap, Villopoto had moved into first, with Reed in second, followed by Brayton, Millsaps, and Stewart. Stewart, knowing he had the speed to run up front, quickly moved his JGR ahead of teammate of Millsaps, and shortly thereafter overtook Brayton.

As the race neared the halfway point, Stewart was within two seconds of Reed, but did not seem to be gaining on his career-long rival. After a bad start, Raptor Titanium's Ryan Dungey was stuck further back, battling with the likes of Millsaps, who he eventually passed, as well as Brayton who proved to be a challenge for the former SX and MX champion.

Dungey kept his consistency which was the main thing and managed to battle up to a credible fourth place to still stay with the front-runners.

Tomac storms to another victory in round 4 of the 2012 AMA Supercross

Round 4, Oakland, CA - 2012 450 Supercross Main Event

Raptor Titanium's Ryan Dungey put in another consistent performance on Saturday night as he took fourth behind the event winner, James Stewart, Chad Reed in second and Ryan Villopoto in third.

Dungey got a bad start, pushed out into tenth place after the first corner, but managed to battle his way up through the field throughout the race but could never catch up to the three champions who had pulled away by that point, though still a great performance to keep the red plate going into the fifth round equal on points with Chad Reed, with Villopoto only two points behind them!

It was also a great result for Raptor Titanium and Geico Honda's veteran crowd-favourite Kevin Windham, who managed an excellent sixth place.

Round 4, Oakland, CA - 2012 250 Lites Main Event

It was another hugely successful night in the 250 Lites class for the teams and riders on Raptor Titanium footpegs in the fourth round of the 2012 AMA Supercross on Saturday night, with another domination from Geico Honda's Eli Tomac.

Raptor Titanium sponsored and Rockstar Energy Suzuki rider Martin Davalos got the holeshot, and in the second lap Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Dean Wilson crashed out before one of the triple jumps, moments before the Factory Honda's Cole Seely also took a tumble out of the race. Tomac was in second place right behind Davalos at this stage, with Raptor Titanium and Cosworth Monster Energy Yamaha's Zach Osborne in third.

Tomac soon moved into first place and dominated from that point on to take another convincing victory and extend his lead going into round five and keeps the red plate!

Tomac first, Dungey second: Another fantastic result for Raptor Titanium riders at Dodgers Stadium in round 3 of the 2012 AMA Supercross

Round 3, Dodgers Stadium, Oakland, CA - 2012 450 AMA Supercross Main Event

Ryan Dungey started round 3 with another great holeshot, edging out in front of Ryan Villopoto to lead into the first corner, but the race was red flagged moments afterwards as Trey Canard and Ryan Morais collided after the first corner through one of the triple jumps.

Raptor Titanium's Ivan Tedesco took the holeshot into the first corner on the restart but then Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jake Weimar led exiting the first corner. Ryan Villopoto went down again early in the race in the third corner, reminiscent of round 2 at Phoenix.

As the field settled, Jake Weimer led with JGR Yamaha's James Stewart chasing and Two Two Motorsport's Chad Reed in third with Ryan Dungey very close behind in fourth place.

Chad Reed took Jake Weimar in lap 6 for the lead, with Weimar, Stewart and Dungey in close pursuit! In lap 7 Stewart and Dungey passed Weimar to take second and third respectively. Villopoto was left to battle his way back up the field again following his crash on the first lap.

Stewart went down in lap 12 to give Dungey second place but managed to stay ahead of Brett Metcalfe who was in fourth to retain third, however Villopoto was charging right behind them, overtaking Metcalfe in the following lap to take fourth.

Chad Reed won by five seconds in the end, with KTM Red Bull USA's and Raptor Titanium's Ryan Dungey in second , James Stewart in third and Ryan Villopoto in fourth.

Round 3, Dodgers Stadium, Oakland, CA - 2012 250 Lites AMA Supercross Main Event

It was Raptor Titanium's Eli Tomac of Geico Honda with the holeshot and the lead as they exited the first corner of the 250 Lites class Main Event. Raptor Titanium sponsored rider and Rockstar Energy Suzuki's Martin Davalos was in second, with another of our sponsored riders in third, Cosworth Yamaha's Zach Osborne. Fourth was Dean Wilson.

Tomac sprinted into the lead, eventually racking up lap times of 53 seconds (when they were struggling to get 54 second lap times in the 450 Main Event!) being comfortably out in front on lap four, with Martin Davalos in second and Osborne in third who was again looking good in supercross as he's been racing World Motocross on Raptor Titanium footpegs for the past few seasons and recovering from injury.

With Dean Wilson having moved up to third in lap 13, Marvin Musquin was looking to put a pass on him when he fell but managed to avoid injury.

Eli Tomac led Dean Wilson by over 15 seconds come the chequered flag, completing a totally dominant performance, with Wilson second and Zach Osborne in third!

Ryan Dungey makes history as first KTM and Raptor Titanium rider to win an AMA Supercross 450 Main Event!

We're delighted to announce that KTM Red Bull USA rider Ryan Dungey became KTM's and Raptor Titanium's first ever rider to win a 450 Main Event in an AMA 450 Supercross Main Event in last night's second round of the 2012 AMA Supercross in Phoenix, AZ.

Dungey got the hole shot and led every lap until the chequered flag after taking a convincing lead on the first lap and pulled away from the rest of the field for the remainder of the race after that.

Ryan Dungey and Ryan Villopoto of Monster Energy Kawasaki go into the third round tied first on points after securing a win and a third each, so there's all to play for as the respective 2010 and 2011 champions go into round 3 at Oakland, CA looking for the upper hand.

Geico Honda's veteran Kevin Windham, who is also on Raptor Titanium footpegs, put in a valiant effort finishing in fourth place in the Main Event as well.

There was fantastic news for Raptor Titanium riders in the 250 Lites Class as well as fellow KTM Red Bull USA and Raptor Titanium rider Marvin Musquin secured a second in the Main Event.

Pro Circuit's 2011 Outdoor AMA Motocross champion Dean Wilson got off to a blistering start with the hole shot, closely followed by Musquin and fellow Pro Circuit rider and points standings leader Tyla Rattray in third, as well as Zach Osborne, former British MX2 Champion and long-time user of Raptor Titanium footpegs!

Winner of the first round at Anaheim Cole Seely battled with Geico Honda and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Eli Tomac for several laps, before being edged past by Tomac, who secured a fantastic fourth place at the end of the race, ahead of Seely and Osborne.

Raptor Titanium sponsored riders Jason Anderson of Rockstar Energy Suzuki and Nico Izzi of Star Racing Yamaha came seventh and eighth respectively.

It was KTM's first ever podium finish in the 450 main event on Saturday night as Ryan Dungey started his first race for the orange team on Raptor Titanium footpegs coming a fantastic third place after battling with James Stewart, who was having an excellent race himself until crashing in lap 15.

Ryan Villopoto on the Monster Energy Kawasaki looked untouchable after a blistering 2011 season and looks to not have lost none of his form. The Australian Chad Reed came second.

With 2011 FIM World MX2 Champion Ken Roczen sidelined with a broken arm, it was down to 2009 and 2010 FIM MX2 Champion Marvin Musquin to put in a performance in the opening round of the 2012 supercross lites class for KTM and Raptor Titanium, and he didn't disappoint finishing in fourth place.

Star Racing Yamaha and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Ryan Sipes also put in a strong performance coming in fifth behind Musquin after Wilson's mistake on the last corner.

However, the star of the evening on Raptor Titanium footpegs was Geico Honda's Eli Tomac, who battled with the 2011 250 Lites AMA Champion Dean Wilson on the Pro Circuit Kawasaki to the very end, capitalizing on a mistake from Wilson at the very last corner to take third place and the podium spot!

ANOTHER DOMINATION OF HAWKSTONE FROM RAPTOR TITANIUM SPONSORED RIDERS IN FINAL BRITISH MX ROUND

All of the expected favourites on Raptor Titanium footpegs dominated their respective classes at the final round of the 2011 series at a humid Hawkstone Park at the weekend.

Bike It Cosworth Wild Wolf Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Arnaud Tonus continued his domination with three victories in the MX2 class. The Swiss rider, who has dominated the second half of the year eventually took three easy victories and was only headed by HM Plant KTM and fellow Raptor Titanium teamster Jake Nicholls for half of one moto. However, a lowly fifth position in the opening moto by Nicholls allowed Bryan MacKenzie (LPE Kawasaki and Raptor Titanium) to take the second step on the podium with 2-3-3 finishes. Elliot Banks Browne, although present did not take part due to injury, but still took the silver medal in the championship ahead of Mel Pocock who returned 3-5-5 finishes.

MX1 Champion, Brad Anderson (PAR Honda and Raptor Titanium) again claimed the top spot on the podium in the MX1 class with two wins and a second place. It was KTM and Raptor Titanium rider, Martin Barr who stopped Ando making a clean sweep with a strong ride in the second moto, backed up with a second and a fourth. However, his 65 points haul on the day was just not enough to snatch second place in the series which went to Kristian Whatley (Samsung Yamaha) who returned 3-5-5 results. In his final professional outdoor ride, Tom Church (HM Plant KTM and Raptor Titanium) took the lower step on the podium and the fans were hoping that he might close his career with a win after leading the final moto for three quarter distance, but eventually had to give way to the fast charging Anderson.

SHAUN SIMPSON WINS BELGIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Raptor Titanium Sponsored Brit Shaun Simpson clinched the Belgian Motocross Championship title at the weekend after a year of adverse fortune in the World Championship.

Despite finishing a consistent 6th, 8th and 5th, Simpson still managed to hang to the title with fellow LS Honda team-mate Ken De Dycker winning the overall open class on the day. Shaun is now the only non-Belgian rider, along with Billy Liles from the USA, to have won the coveted championship in 20 years, so the achievement is huge and will be a huge boost to his confidence going into a another World Championship next year.

Shaun will now move to Steve Dixon's Cosworth Yamaha team for next year's World Motocross Championship to compete in the MX1 class alongside MX2 team-mates Arnaud Tonus and Zach Osborne.

BRAD ANDERSON TAKES HAT-TRICK OF TITLES IN 2011

Yesterday was supposed to be the Final Round of the British Masters Championship at Dean Moor. Due to the adverse weather conditions it had to be cancelled. This meant that the championship was finalised on the previous round. This means that Brad Anderson took the Championship win.

TWO ITALIAN WORLD MX GP 2NDS AND MAX ANSTIE'S FIRST PODIUM FOR CLS KAWASAKI

MX1 - Second GP podium for Christophe Pourcel

Christophe Pourcel claimed in Fermo (Italy) his second MX1 GP podium since his comeback in Europe, and proved with a third heat win that he’s always one of the fastest rider of this class.

Christophe Pourcel was again in electrifying form for this final round of the World Championship as he took a moto victory for the third consecutive GP after England and Germany. With heavy track watering necessary to combat the boiling sun the team had made suspension changes to Pourcel's bike on Sunday morning, but the track did not develop as they had expected and the sensitive Frenchman did not feel able to push to his limits. Although as high as fifth at one stage, he eventually crossed the line eighth and the team sought a new solution for race two which proved to be absolutely right. Pourcel shot quickly into the lead and, although he surrendered first place briefly midway through the moto, he soon regained the lead and raced away for a clearcut victory to secure second on the day.

Christophe Pourcel: “On Saturday during the qualification race I had a pretty good start, but then I went a little bit wide in a corner after the downhill; my back wheel went outside the bump and the bike slid out. I crashed and, although I recovered to eleventh, I was afraid that might not be so good for the races. However my Kawasaki still got me to the first turn with the leaders in both motos. Usually I can find the good lines right away but in the first race I couldn’t find any ! We made a lot of changes on the bike this morning and I didn’t feel comfortable so the only thing I could do was to finish the race and do my job. We changed the suspensions settings for the second moto; we put the same as for Gaildorf last week and the bike was so good ! We must keep working at it; we have only been together for a few weeks but the team is working hard and it’s going better and better.”

Jean Jacques Luisetti: “The first race was pretty tough for Christophe, who didn’t had a good feeling with the bike and the track. There were (too) many jumps on this track and we didn’t work in the best direction with the settings, but when we offered to Christophe another option for the second race he shows everyone what he’s able to do! We’re still learning working with him but he’s a fantastic rider, and I hope that we’ll find the financial support to keep him here next season. We still don’t know if the Federation will call him for the Nations, but the team will be there in St Jean d’Angely to met the Pro Circuit riders with Tommy on a 450, US lites champion Dean Wilson, Tyla Rattray and Blake Baggett.”

MX2 - Double podium for the team in Italy

Tommy Searle of Kawasaki Team CLS was top scorer for the second consecutive weekend as the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship came to an end at the hillside Fermo track in central Italy, and was alongside his team mate Max Anstie on the podium for the first time this season.

The Englishman was already assured of third place in the championship but, like many other riders, was determined to end the season in style as they lined up in stifling heat for the two races at the picturesque hillside circuit only a few miles the Adriatic. Getting one of his best starts of the season Searle immediately attacked early leader Jeffrey Herlings in race one and built up a huge lead even before the two rivals had to fight their way through lapped riders; such was their pace that at the finish even the rider in eleventh place was lapped ! Tommy's start was even better in race two as he led the pack away, but he was unable to shake off the attentions of Herlings and offered only token resistance when the Dutch teenager attacked so that he study where his rival was gaining time. Searle expected his fitness to be the deciding factor in the heat as the race entered the closing laps, but a single minor error was enough for Herlings to break clear and Tommy had to settle for a share of the top points on the day with the rider he expects to be his main rival for the world title next year.

Searle was joined on the podium in Italy by teammate Max Anstie. The teenager had missed the podium by just one place on six occasions this summer and was determined to finally collect his first GP trophy. Max's determined approach during the early laps quickly saw him take over fourth place in each race, but the field had quickly spread out in race one and Anstie was unable to close down the rider in third. Determined to make amends in race two he was up to fourth place in race two before he ran off the track into the fencing and had to charge again from ninth place. He showed great spirit to again cross the line in fourth place, and, as he had decisively beaten the riders who had finished third in each of the motos in the alternate race, he was rewarded with third place overall on the day. The result also cemented his fifth place in the championship standings in this, his rookie season.

Tommy Searle: “My first race was good; Jeffrey (Herlings) was fast at the beginning of the race, but I had a couple of good laps and increased my lead to fifteen seconds. After that I think he slowed down to conserve some energy, so I did the same as we both knew the second race would be tough with the heat. The second moto I got a good start, my second holeshot this season, and I was happy with that. Jeffrey was behind me and he clearly had some good lines; I knew he was fast in some places, so, when he passed me just before the finish line, I tried to follow him but he put in some fast laps and made a gap. I also put in a couple of good laps to catch him up again but I couldn’t pass him; then I made a small mistake and fell on the ground. We were both pushing really hard after that, and it was not possible to close the gap as he was fast right until the end. For me it doesn’t make a big difference to win this GP or not; I had a good feeling on the bike and I’m really happy with the way I rode this weekend. That’s the main thing as I know that I can win, and we’ll have some nice races next season with Jeffrey. I know what we have to work on this winter. We have already been working on the start; we spoke with (Pro Circuit owner) Mitch (Payton) and he knows what we have to do. Mitch really wants to win the championship and I think our bike will be even better next season.”

Max Anstie: “After finishing fourth in six GPs this year I was really determined to end the season with my first podium, and I did just that. The entire weekend was nice; the weather was lovely, just like at my house in America, and I love Italy, the fans, the food, the pasta ! I think this track was one of the best of the year, and on Saturday I had a really good qualification race so it was great to have a good starting position. I’ve been working hard on my starts and it paid off this weekend. I was fourth in the second race when I went off the track into the fence; it was tough but I came back from ninth to fourth again to get this podium overall ! I want to thank Monster, Pro Circuit, Kawasaki, CLS and all this guys who worked hard for this. I’ve learned so much this year with different people, countries, tracks and I can’t wait to be back next season.”

Jean Jacques Luisetti: “It was really great to see both Tommy and Max on the podium for the first time this season, and of course we’re delighted. I think that Tommy could have won without this small mistake in race two, I’m sure that next year we’ll have nice battles between Tommy and Herlings who will be for sure our main contender for the title. Tommy was fast and strong today, as always, and I’m glad to have him with us next season. Max did also strong races to capture his first ever GP podium, what a nice feeling to have both of them together. I’d like to congratulate our technical staff who didn’t do any mistake this season; we didn’t had any problems during the 15 rounds of the series, and they’re always working in a good atmosphere.”

Tommy Searle of Kawasaki Team CLS raced to an emphatic victory in the penultimate round of the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship to ensure third place in the series.

The English rider was in superb form as he recorded the fastest lap in both Saturday's qualifier and both of Sunday's points-scoring races of the European GP at Gaildorf in southern Germany. Sadly his starts let him down as he had to chase through the pack, but his dominance was clear in the second race as he dropped his lap times by almost two seconds to pull back the leaders at will for a clearcut victory over the two riders who were involved in a final showdown for the world title itself. Earlier in the day he had fought his way from outside the top ten to cross the line in second place after passing all of his major rivals bar Ken Roczen and he was catching the German when time ran out. After one of his best starts of the year Searle was able to pass the champion elect and his rival Jeffrey Herlings at will to secure the overall victory and ensure third place in the series.

Teammate Max Anstie had to charge from even further back after earning a relatively poor gate when he crashed during Saturday qualification, but the teenager persevered to finish tenth before a much better start in race two enabled him to move quickly into the top five where he engaged in a long duel with the Swiss Arnaud Tonus, his rival for the fifth placed ranking in the series. Anstie was rewarded for his tenacity with fifth place in the GP.
The European GP also hosted the final round of the European MX2 championship in which French youngster Dylan Ferrandis of Kawasaki Bud Racing raced to his third double win of the season. Despite missing several rounds of the series through injuries his efforts brought him second place in the championship, just three points away from the title.

In other Raptor news, it was a solid overall fourth for as the Swiss-man Arnaud Tonus lost out by a whisker to Jeff Herlings for the 3rd place the podium spot.

Brit Shaun Simpson got a hard-earned overall 10th after another hole-shot reminiscent of his performance at the British GP in the first race.

Tommy Searle and Max Anstie were on unstoppable form yesterday afternoon as they cruised to 1st and 2nd in both races at the Red Bull Pro Nationals at Hawkstone Park at the weekend.

Tommy Searle secured easy victory in both races to get the double in the MX1 category, followed by fellow Raptor Titanium riders Brad Anderson in 2nd and Gert Krestinov in 3rd.

Max Anstie had a more challenging day, battling his way up through the field in both races to clinch 2nd in both races, earning him the victory overall for the day in the MX2 category. The MX2 podium was also completed by Raptor Titanium riders Jake Nicholls in 2nd and Brian McKenzie in 3rd to complete two Raptor Titanium 1-2-3 podiums in both categories.

Tommy Searle recorded a superb second place for Kawasaki Team CLS in the British round of the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship to further strengthen his third place in the series.

Played out in front of a large, enthusiastic gallery at the Matterley Basin track in Hampshire which was last used for a GP in 2006, the British GP was a showcase event for the sport in the home of motocross and Searle put on a great show for the home fans. After an unfortunate start in the first moto he scythed his way through the field from outside the top ten to snatch second place four laps from the end to the deafening cheers of his home fans and confidently expected to be able to snatch the overall victory on the day with a win in race two after getting a much better start. However it soon became clear that the exertions of race one had been too great and the dream of a home win faded. Nevertheless Searle kept fighting to the end and grabbed another second place on the very last lap of racing. He is now more than 50 points clear of his closest rival for third in the series and can confidently expect to clinch his medal at the next round.

Searle's teenage teammate Max Anstie faced a difficult GP after a collision at the start of the qualification race damaged his bike and forced him to start from the extreme outside gate. However the young Brit never stopped charging and had battled through the pack to tenth and eighth places as the chequered flag fell at the end of the two 40 minute races. He too has cemented his sixth place in the standings and can anticipate great battles during the final two GPs in his quest for a top five world ranking.

New MX2 British Champion Arnaud Tonus took his Cosworth-powered Yamaha YZ250F to fifth position overall at a busy Matterley Basin circuit for the Bike it Cosworth Wild Wolf Yamaha’s home event. The British Grand Prix – round thirteen of fifteen in the FIM Motocross World Championship – was played out in front of a raucous 26, 500 attendance in Winchester and across the best track seen so far on the 2011 calendar.

The 23 year old Frenchman had showed great speed and skill as he topped qualification on Saturday and in the first moto of the GP he pressurised early leader Steven Frossard until his compatriot made a mistake to make the way clear for a deserved win by the Kawasaki rider, his first victory this year. After another excellent start in race two Pourcel looked set to repeat his first win, but a simple mistake on a jump saw him throw away his chances and forced him to pull out of the race because his bike was bent in the incident. But for once Lady Luck was on his side and after a collision between two other riders the race was red-flagged and rerun over the full distance. Having already changed into his regular clothing before the red flag came out, Pourcel faced a hectic dash to get ready for the rerun and the stress restricted him to third place, but this was enough to see him end the day as equal top points-scorer.
8th for Davide Guarneri and 12th for Gregory Aranda meant that the Kawasaki Raptor Titanium sponsored riders had a very successful weekend indeed.

Shaun Simpson's season of dismal luck continued when he managed to get the hole-shot on the first corner of race 2 that catapulted him into the lead and he was hanging in there valiantly in 2nd place when a collision between Scot and fellow Raptor Titanium rider Billy Mckenzie and Tanal Leok meant the race had to be restarted. This bad luck favoured the top riders in the championship, but Shaun could not repeat his great start and was relegated down to 10th position in race 2.

British fans weren't left completely disappointed this weekend though after MX1 British Champion Brad Anderson managed a fantastic 5th overall at the weekend, showing the grit and determination that signifies why he's the new British champion.

ANDREW SHORT INJURED

The Red Bull/KTM Factory is saddened to announce that their supercross / motocross rider Andrew Short was injured during a crash while testing and will sit out the remainder of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship Series.

Short, currently sitting 6th overall in the 450 Motocross class point standings, was testing in California on Tuesday. The team reported that testing went smoothly for the first half of the day and Short was riding exceptionally well considering the rough track conditions.

In the late afternoon he suffered a crash and was immediately transported to the hospital. After careful evaluation by his doctors it was determined that he has broken both elbows and his left wrist. Due to his injury, Short will sit out the rest of the season with an estimated eight week recovery period.

This weekend saw the penultimate round of the MAXXIS British Championship take place on the Scottish Border in Duns.

PAR Honda’s Brad Anderson wrapped up the 2011 British MX1 title at Duns yesterday as he blasted to three out of three wins to take the title with one round to spare.

With his teammate unfortunately injured, and a 70 point lead, Swiss Arnaud Tonus went into the day knowing he could win the championship with some determination; and of course the skill that has got him to this point.

Arnaud walked away from the Scottish podium crowned the MX2 British Champion, one year after his team mate and fellow Raptor Titanium-sponsored rider Zach Osborne took the 2010 title.

Windham sparkles in Emerald City, Tomac gains big ground in Lites West

SEATTLE (Apr. 17) -- It was good to be a GEICO Honda rider during the 15th round of Supercross in Seattle. Fan favorite Kevin Windham and teammate Eli Tomac both earned runner-up finishes under the Saturday night lights at Qwest Field, Windham on his 450cc ride and Tomac on his 250cc Lites bike.

Windham, who won Seattle last season, always rides well on muddy racetracks and Seattle delivered for him again as rain leading up to the race made it treacherous for many riders.

"I did well because I was able to keep it on two wheels. That was the battle this whole race," Windham said. "The track changed each lap and I was just able to ride it out and keep my GEICO Honda upright."

The veteran rider has been working hard to crack the top five each weekend but has fallen short of a medal finish until this round.

"When you haven't been on the podium all year long, this feels like a win," Windham said. "All my guys have been working hard all season long and I'm so glad to be up here for them."

In Lites West action, Tomac earned his fifth straight podium finish with his second-place result. Tomac had a tough day with the rain and the mud, but made up for it a few laps into the main event.

"I'm feeling awesome," said Tomac, who gained five points in the world rankings. "I finished ahead of the guys I needed to get ahead of in the championship fight so I'm really happy with that."

Tomac worked his way up from as far back as seventh place. The fluid rider rode hard but stayed smooth as he picked the riders ahead of him, gaining on every single one, including eventual winner Cole Seely.

"I definitely turned around my day," Tomac said. "My practice wasn't that great, neither was the heat race, or even my start in the main, but I got fired up and made up for it when it mattered. I wanted to outdo the guys ahead of me in points, and I did."

Tomac made up some valuable ground in the championship points standings by finishing ahead of current points leader Broc Tickle. Although Tomac did not improve his third-place ranking, he is only seven points out of the lead heading into the second to last race of the year.

"It's nice to be on the offensive side of things," Tomac said. "I'm the guy in third chasing them so I've got nowhere to go but up. I like where I'm at and hopefully I'll make up points at the last two races and can sneak in and take that championship."

Fellow GEICO Honda Lites rider Jimmy DeCotis' day was cut short in Seattle due to an injury he suffered in the first practice session. DeCotis dislocated his right elbow on a landing in what seemed to be a routine jump for the rookie rider.

"I landed weird and my elbow just came out of place," DeCotis said. "I felt it right away so I pulled over and laid down for a couple of minutes. They got me in the rig and got it back in place, which is a good thing. It's still tender but it's already starting to heal."

DeCotis was disappointed his day was cut short, as he was looking forward to earning his first podium of the season as well as helping his teammate Tomac's championship chase.

"I'm hoping to get back out here by Salt Lake City, but we'll see" DeCotis said. "I'm just really bummed I couldn't get back out there tonight."

The GEICO Honda team has put a rider on the podium at 12 consecutive races.

The next stop on the Monster Energy Supercross Series is April 30 at Rice-Eccles Field in Salt Lake City.

Tough experience for Gregory Aranda / Win for Livia Lancelot

The fourth round of the French Elite series hasn’t been successful for Gregory Aranda, who lost many points when he retired in the second heat. For the team Rockstar Bud Racing Lovemytime Kawasaki the best this weekend came from Livia Lancelot, who dominates the opening round of the French women series.

Starts, starts and starts! Once more this weekend Gregory Aranda, who posted the fastest qualifying time in the morning, suffered from poor starts in the races and lost too much time to recover. Coming back in third position of race one behind Barragan and Boog, Greg will unfortunately not finish the opening lap of the second moto; after his worst start of the season so far he passed many riders, but took too many risks and crashed! He was unable to continue, as his bike was damaged.

In St Cheron near Paris, Livia Lancelot dominates the three heats of the French series. It was for Livia a perfect opportunity to prepare the opening round of the World Championship, as she had to work all day long on the settings of his Kawasaki as the track changed through the weekend. She had the best feeling in the last race, and will arrive confident in Bulgaria for the World Championship race. Gregory Aranda will also be with Davide Guarneri in Sevlievo, while Dylan Ferrandis will have new exams on his wrist this week; the youngest member of the team expect to be ready in three weeks time in the Netherlands for the first round of the MX2 European series.

Gregory Aranda: “In the first heat I struggled with some other riders and I was sixteenth at the start; I came back third, but I wasn’t confident as I had some troubles with the engine on some jumps. It was better in the last part of the race, but Jonathan and Xavier were far away. I took my second bike for the next race, but my start was even worse and I was passing a couple of riders when I crashed in a fast corner. I did a mistake, I wanted to come back too fast and the bike was damaged so I retired; if Xavier doesn’t do any mistake in the next two rounds I have no more chances for the title.”

Livia Lancelot: “This weekend my 4th race of the season took place in St Cheron near Paris, it was the opening round of the French women series. I won the three heats of the weekend. Quads were also riding and they destroyed the track, I had some troubles to find my rhythm. The third and last heat was the best for me; I had a great feeling with the bike and was happy with the settings of the suspensions. I think that I made a huge improvement compared to the previous seasons, now I know what to do with the suspensions, thanks to the work we did this winter with Sébastien Dassé. I will go to Bulgaria confident, even if I have no ideas about my level compared to my rivals; I’ve a good feeling with the Kawasaki, and I worked hard this winter to prepare this season.”

Jacky Vimond: “It was a mixed weekend for us; Greg didn’t get a good start in both races and then it was difficult for him. During the first heat he wasn’t so confident as he had some troubles with the engine, but during the last part of the race he had a good rhythm. His second start was worse than the first one but he passed promptly several riders, until this spectacular crash and he was lucky to stay safe. This week Greg will have to work on the starts again, in GP’s it’s much more difficult to come back and he must find a solution.”

Raptors rider Jack Sheppard prepares for ACU British Trial Championship

Young seventeen year old Jack Sheppard has made quite a name for himself in the World of trials over the past twelve months and it’s not just here in the UK. After finishing runner up in last year’s SPEA FIM Youth Trial World Championship the young star from Ipswich, Suffolk attracted direct support from the Italian Beta factory. Having just returned from Australia, where he featured in his second stint of Top Gear Live shows, Jack has just taken delivery of his brand new factory Beta machine and is now fully focused on spear heading an attack on the British Trials Championship.

Another new challenge for Sheppard during 2011 will be his first outing at the infamous Scottish Six Day Trial (SSDT) where Jack will be looking to make his mark. This year marks the event’s centenary and is therefore expected to bring in record crowds and stiff competition.

Round 1 - Harwood Dale, North Yorkshire

Defending champion of the series was raptors rider Daryl Bolter, who could not make the trip due to other commitments so it was up to KORR's rookie rider Jonny Walker to represent KTM and the team. Walker is another upcoming raptor rider. Jonny has ridden many times before at Harwood Dale but only in Trials, this weekend he returned to make his first Cross-Country race on his KORR Azego KTM 300 EXC.
He made a good start and within a few turns was quickly up to second and then just followed KTM's Ashley Woods, the 2 riders quickly pulled a big gap on the rest of the field and Jonny shadowed Ashley following him in his wheel tracks for a few laps.
On lap 3 Jonny moved to the front and started to make a safe gap of around 1 minute on Ashley, we only used a stock EXC tank so it would be touch and go if we could make just one fuel stop, fortunately with the clear tank we could see the level and kept him out until the last moment on reserve and just managed to pass the halfway point which would mean we only needed to stop once for fuel.
The second half of the race Jonny just managed his lead and rode effortlessly to finish 1st overall, meanwhile veteran Ady Smith on his 250XCF worked his way up to third to make a KTM 1-2-3 on the podium.

Lier - They say racing improves the breed and that’s something the LS Racing Honda team believes as well. So when Ken De Dycker won the first two rounds of the Open Dutch Championship Shaun Simpson, who won at Little Silver earlier this month, knew what he needed to do in order to keep up. And that’s exactly what the 23-year old MX1 rookie did with a strong 1-2-1 score at the second round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship held at Canada Heights! Shaun won the event with a sixteen-point advantage over eventual runner up overall Kristian Whatley. Although the LS Honda Racing rider will not take part in the remainder of the series due to other commitments he currently leads the British Championship standings.

The second round of the French Elite series will remain in the memories of team Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki, who was pleased to celebrate a double podium in Brittany. Greg didn’t surprised anyone with this second consecutive podium, but not so many people were expecting a podium from Dylan Ferrandis and his 250 Kawasaki in an Open class series!
Romagné is since a long time a regular venue for the Elite series, but never in the past racing conditions were as good as this weekend; the track was well prepared thanks to previous rainfalls during the week, and Sunday was warm and sunny. Romagné is one of the tracks were the 250 riders can expect some good results among the 450, and Dylan Ferrandis jumped on this opportunity to grab his best ever result since his move in the Pro class. Again fast during the qualifying session, Dylan got two very good starts – including the holeshot in race two – and battled in both heats for the podium. Third behind Boog and Aranda, the best MX1 riders of the series in heat one, he put pressure on Boog during the second heat. Scoring a fantastic second position, he is now leading the MX2 classification while Greg is tight in the standings with Boog; despite two bad starts, he came back twice on the podium.
In Italy Davide Guarneri raced twice this week, as the second round of the International series was postponed to last Thursday due to weather conditions. Fourth in Faenza, he posted three days later the fastest lap time during the qualifying session in Cingoli. He retired in the first race after an heavy crash, but then scored a eighth position in race two; he is currently seventh of the series before the last round scheduled next weekend.
Gregory Aranda: “In both races I had a bad start, and lost more time at the beginning of the second heat with a crash! In the first race I was able to come second close to Boog, but in the second one it was more difficult as it was hard to pass. But I was able to post some fast laps, and finish both races on the podium; with Xavier we have a good rhythm, and our battles are the best way to prepare the GP’s. I’m sure that we’ll continue to battle during the following rounds, and this week we’ll work in order to get better starts.”
Dylan Ferrandis: “I came here expecting top ten or top fifteen results and I finish both races on the podium, that’s so exciting! I got twice a great start, and I was surprised to holeshot the 450 at the second heat; then it was easier to race in front, and the track was amazing, so well prepared. In the second race I was always close to Boog, and I’m delighted with this second position. I enjoyed the podium celebration; it’s different than Le Touquet, and mentally it’s always good to start the season like this.”
Stephane Dassé: “It’s a perfect day for us, we saw a very good Greg and an exceptional Dylan on the track today! He surprised us, even if we knew in the team how fast he is; but to finish twice on the podium of an Open series is amazing. He was consistent during the two periods of thirty five minutes, and we are happy for him as this result will boost his confidence. Greg rode well too, but he lost so much time at the starts. Concerning Davide he proved with a pole position in Cingoli how fast he is now; he was not so successful during the races but he is on the right direction. I’m happy for our riders, for the team, for our partners; everyone in the team is working well, the atmosphere is great and we are confident for the rest of the season.”

Frédéric Bezombes : "Nous étions le weekend dernier à Valence pour la première véritable course de la saison. Robin Kappel étant toujours en convalescence, seul Nicolas Aubin était présent pour défendre les couleurs du team.
Au guidon de sa KTM 250 SXF, Nicolas a réalisé les meilleurs temps lors des essais.
Un peu tendu au départ de la première manche, il va néanmoins signer le holeshot. Après quelques tours en tête de la course, Arnaud Tonus va le rejoindre puis le passer. Nico remontera sur le Suisse en fin de manche sans pour autant parvenir à le doubler.
En seconde manche, Nicolas part second et prend rapidement la tête de la course pour ne plus la lâcher.

Sur un terrain gras en surface mais dur en sous sol, il va gérer sa course et remporter cette manche.
En super finale, avec les MX1, Nicolas tape dans la grille au départ avant de réussir à se faufiler pour pointer 9ème à la fin du premier tour. En délicatesse avec sa roue avant, le pilote KTM HDI va assurer pour ne pas chuter
Au cumul du weekend, Nico décroche une belle seconde place au classement MX2.
Prochain rendez-vous le 29 février à Lacapelle Marival."

De Dycker and Simpson keen to get going Preview Valence International, 19^th and 20^th of February

 Lier - Due to an unfortunate date clash riders and teams were forced to make a hard choice between the Valence International in France and Mantova Starcross in Italy. However the majority of top riders, including LS Honda Racing riders Shaun Simpson and Ken De Dycker, will head to Valence this weekend for their first pre-season meeting. The spectacular hard-pack track, south of Lyon with its many jumps and tricky soil remains a great first test for men and machines. De Dycker travelled to France a couple of days in advance and will stay in the south of France after the race to train and test with the team. The popular Belgian was a runner-up in Valence two years ago.

 Valence will also mark the LS Honda Racing motocross debut for Simpson. The MX1 rookie rode his CRF450R to victory earlier this month at the second round of the British Supercross Championship in London. And Simpson as a reputation for outstanding pre-season results, including back-to-back victories at Mantova’s Starcross. We caught up with Shaun just before making his way down south.

Obviously you have been working with the team for some months now, but since the first race of the season is always a bit more official we’ll start accordingly: welcome to the LS Honda Racing Team! What have you been up to during winter time?

Shaun Simpson: “Thanks! It’s been quite good, I had some surgery to my left shoulder in the off-season so my main priority was to come back full rested from that. So I didn’t do much riding until January the first. I did all my base training with running and cycling. My first weeks back on the bike were at home in Scotland, it felt good to be back riding again although the conditions were far from perfect with ice and snow. Since mid-January I’m back in Belgium where I have been riding on a variety of tracks in the region. The weather hasn’t been perfect there either, but overall it was fine. Two weeks ago I did my first race, a supercross event in London and I really enjoyed it! It was nice to start off on the Honda with a win. At this point I’m feeling fit and confident, sure I’m not in my best shape yet but I’m feeling comfortable on the bike.”  It seems you’re always a threat for race wins and podiums at this time of year. Is there a particular reason for your tradition of early form? Shaun Simpson: “(smiling) I think it’s because I get excited! Every year I want to be so good in the first races and this year I’m not stressed about it because I know from previous years that you can win Mantova, Valence or Hawkstone Park but when the first GP is there that’s when you need to been in your best shape. That’s when it matters. In previous years I was maybe a little bit too psyched up already, so that’s something that I needed to adjust. My preparation has been different all together this year, I rode and trained my own way. For now I’m going for fun, and for a good feeling with the bike, the engine and testing. If I win easy than I win but otherwise it doesn’t matter whether I am third, fifth or seventh. Still, to answer your question in full: to be fast this early I don’t need a lot of bike time. The races are only 20 minutes now so it doesn’t matter how bike-fit you are. Anyway I’m feeling good!”  Is there any first-day-at-school nervousness when you go back to Valence for the first race? Shaun Simpson: “Of course that’s a part of it! You see all the other guys with new clothes, new bikes, excited fans… so for sure you want to be fast. You feel a bit nervous and excited, but I want to keep calm at the same time. I don’t want to do something stupid because it’s important to get some strong first races under your belt, get the bugs and nervousness out of the way. Come the first GP, than you’re really ready for it.”   I have never seen anyone cornering so fast like you did in Mantova last year, you must be bummed to miss that race? Shaun Simpson: “It’s tough, I really don’t know why they make the races on the same day! It’s a shame, I really like Mantova. There’s a nice atmosphere, it’s quite a small track and it holds up well in all weather conditions. I’m sad to miss the Starcross really, also because I won it the last two years. We chose to do Valence for several reasons. It’s closer, many of the top guys will be riding there and it’s also a good track. You had to choose one or the other, I’m happy with my choice. Hopefully they can work it out that next year we can first do Mantova, followed by Valence.”

Plenty of success for KTM UK supported riders this past weekend with reigning Enduro 3 World Champion and KTM Enduro Factory Team racer David Knight topping the Pro class result, while KORR team rider Greg Evans rounded out the podium in third.

Greg Evans: I’m really chuffed to have finished third overall. It was always going to be tough to get a top three result in an event like this because of there being so many good trials riders competing, but by pushing hard and being consistent in both races paid off for me. I struggled a bit in the first race with arm pump. I was finding it hard to get into a rhythm, maybe because it was the first race of the year and I was a little bit anxious. Fifth was a good result though, I was pleased with that. The second race went well apart from falling on the rock slab section, which cost me a fair bit of time. I dropped back to eight but managed to work my way forward and felt strong the whole race, which I was really pleased about. All in all it’s been a great day for me.

DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha riders Kyle Cunningham and Nick Paluzzi adapted to the slick, technical track quickly setting qualifying times that slated them respectively into the night portion of racing.

We have had a good result in the Paris Dakar rally. Laia sanz came first in the Ladies rally. She was riding with Jordi Acarones as an outrider both were on raptor pegs

The Dakar has finished and Spanish female newcomer, motorcycle rider, Laia Sanz is champion of the Ladies Trophy! She started stage 1 already with a determined ability by winner the Dakar’s first competition stage in the Ladies Trophy. Following her was The Netherlander Mirjam Pol in 2nd place with Silvia Giannetti from Italy in third and Swedish Dakar Princess Annie Seel in 4^th
