The crowds flocked to Fermo at the weekend for Round 3 of the FIM Motocross World Championship, and with close championship races being contested in both MX1 and MX2 classes in the first two rounds, the anticipation wasn't to end in disappointment.
MX2
After dominating the qualifying stage, Raptor Titanium's Tommy Searle of Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki was plagued by mechanical failure in the first MX2 race as he was forced to retire with radiator problems, chalking up a costly DNF. Searle's main rival Jeff Herlings of KTM Red Bull then cruised to victory in the first race, leaving his team-mate Jeremy Van Horebeek behind to take a comfortable win. The pleasant surprise of the day was the stand-in for Monster Energy Yamaha and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Michael Leib who managed a very impressive 3rd plce and his first ever World MX GP podium place. Raptor Titanium's Dylan Ferrandis of Bud Racing Kawasaki rounded out the top five behind Jake Nicholls in fourth.
It was a much closer affair between the two main contenders in race two as a horrible start for both Herlings and Searle meant they had to race up the pack to grab as many points as possible. Searle pressured Herlings throughout the race but couldn't put the pass down, settling for second place and ninth overall to stay in the title race. Raptor Titanium's Michael Leib of Monster Energy Yamaha got a well-earned third place in the second race, securing an overall second place on the podium.

Raptor Titanium and KRT's Gautier Paulin looked like the man to beat after qualifying, however it was his fellow Frenchman and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Christophe Pourcel of Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki that asserted dominance in the opening race, dicing with Paulin right to the very end to steal it on one of the remaining few corners on the last lap. KTM Red Bull's Antonio Cairoli pressured Paulin for much of the race, but the Frenchman was much too quick and was busy trying to pass Pourcel for the lead so in the end Cairoli was forced to settle for third place. Paulin's team-mate and fellow Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Xavier Boog took a well-fought fifth place.
In race two the Italian on the 350 KTM showed why he's a 5-time World Champion, with his home-crowd behind him and in the face of such strong opposition he held off Pourcel all race, who eventually settled for second place to gain 1-2 in each race and the overall win! Rockstar Suzuki's Clement Desalle battled through to a third place on the podium in the second race, and after an awful start in race 2, Paulin was forced to climb back through the field to claim a well-earned sixth place to get fourth overall for the day.
Raptor Titanium's Kevin Strijbos of KTM UK took a fantastic overall seventh for the day with 10th and 7th places in each race and Xavier Boog managed ninth after 14th place in race 2 lost him valuable points from his excellent fifth in race 1.

Tomac wins Salt Lake City Main Event on all-Raptor Titanium rider podium to be crowned AMA 250 West Lites Champion! 450 Main Event win for Ryan Dungey!
250 Lites West Main Event
It was Raptor Titanium's Jason Anderson of Rockstar Energy Suzuki who took the holeshot ahead of fellow Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Marvin Musquin of KTM Red Bull USA and then Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Dean Wilson who was in the hunt for the title. Our sponsored rider Eli Tomac of Geico Honda did not get the best start but within the first few laps had worked his way through the pack and, in a risky manoeuvre, passed Musquin in the first turn sweeper and through the rhythm section.
For the next several laps Tomac continued to gain on Wilson with the crowd on its feet for antoher battle. Finally on lap eight, Tomac was able to force the pass just after the first rhythm section but was not content to stop there. Up to this point, Anderson had held a very comfortable lead, but slowly began to tighten up as the laps clicked off. With so many mistakes, it wasn't long before Tomac was right behind him.
After a few laps of reeling in Anderson, Tomac was able to make the pass to take over the lead. At that point, Wilson rode in third place but that was not the end of the race. In the closing laps, Wilson made a big error through the second whoop section, dropping the front end and cartwheeling into the face of the finish line jump. Tomac not only took the win, but with Wilson dropping out of the race, he also was able to claim his first West Supercross Lites Championship. Anderson finished second with his team-mate and fellow Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Martin Davalos third. Raptor Titanium riders rounded out the top five with Tomac's team-mate Wil Hahn in fourth and Musquin in fifth.

450 Supercross Main Event
JGR Yamaha's Davi Millsaps took the early lead ahead of our sponsored rider Ryan Dungey of KTM Red Bull USA and then the injured 2012 Supercross Champion's team-mate Jake Weimer of Monster Energy Kawasaki in third. Weimer did not wait long to make his move on Dungey, forcing his way infront of the KTM rider on the second lap. While Millsaps seemed to have a clear lead, the duo of Weimer and Dungey continued to close on the leader.
At the mid-way point Dungey made a pass on Weimer through the first turn sweeper and made it stick for a short period of time. However, two turns later, Weimer made a text book block/stuff pass on Dungey, taking the number five machine down before the whoops.
Millsaps continued to ride out front but Dungey was not ready to let the lead pack go. After shaking off the fall, Dungey recollected himself and went back on a charge. First he reeled in and passed Weimer on lap 15. Then he went on to stalk, catch, and pass Millsaps just before the last lap due to Millsaps getting caught up in some lapped traffic. With the crowd on its feet, Dungey was able to take a surprise, come-from-behind win ahead of Millsaps and Weimer in third. Motoconcept's Suzuki rider and Raptor Titanium's Mike Alessi grabbed a very respectable fifth place.

Tomac edges points lead on Wilson in Seattle as Ryan Sipes takes Lites Class Win to top an all-Raptor Titanium rider podium and Roczen takes second in his first ever outing in the Supecross Class
With all the success of Raptor Titanium sponsored riders in Bulgaria at the World MX GP this weekend it is with great pleasure we write with equally successful news State-side as our sponsored teams and riders got 1, 2 and 3 in the 250 Lites Class Main Event and a second for Ken Roczen in his first ever Supercross Class Main Event aboard the 350SX-F KTM on Saturday night.
250 West 15 lap Main Event
With the perfect track conditions and high anticipation the West series kicked off again with the crowd at fever pitch by the time the gate dropped for the 250 Lites Class Main Event. Raptor Titanium riders Eli Tomac of Geico Honda and Ryan Sipes of Star Valli Yamaha battled exiting the first corner with Sipes easing out the advantage at the end of the first lap, with Tomac in second and Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Dean Wilson in third. In lap 2, Wilson passed Tomac to take second place with Sipes sprinting off to a sizeable lead. At this point Marvin Musquin was in ninth, but not for long as he was about to have a storming race from the middle of the pack right up to second position.
Lap 8 saw Tomac have a nasty collision with Wilson, sending the Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider tumbling to the ground, with Tomac managing to stay aboard his Geico Honda machine. At this point, Tomac was back up to second with fellow Geico Honda Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Will Hahn in third. Musquin was scything his way through the field up to sixth position, with Wison behind him after his fall.
By lap 14 Musquin had got up to third place and was dicing with Tomac, and not to be denied, passed the Geico Honda man to move up from ninth to second place, an incredible performance from the Raptor Titanium sponsored KTM Red Bull USA rider.
Ryan Sipes took the win, with Marvin Musquin in second and Eli Tomac in third to round off an all-Raptor Titanium sponsored rider podium.

450 Supercross 20 lap Main Event
Former KTM Red Bull USA rider Andrew Short took a storming holeshot on his Honda, with Raptor Titanium's Ken Roczen in second and Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jake Weimer third. Roczen's team-mate and fellow Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Ryan Dungey sat in fifth place, his first race after coming back from a collarbone injury. The 2012 Champion Ryan Villopoto fell at the first corner and limped from the track with a leg injury.
Roczen pressured Short from lap 1, but the more experienced Supercross rider managed to hold off the prodigal talent of Roczen, their battle meaning they pulled away from the rest of the field early on. The dicing was classic Supercross from start to finish as they passed each other almost every corner on some laps.
There was a breath-holding moment on lap six as Dungey went down, however he quickly recovered getting straight back on and not losing a single place.
Towards the end of the race Andrew Short managed to create a slender lead over Roczen and retained it until the chequered flag and his first ever Supercross Main Event win! Dungey managed to hang to sixth with an impressive return to racing.

Double MX1 and MX2 Overall Wins for Raptor Titanium Sponsored Riders in Bulgaria
Glorious sunshine greeted motocross enthusiasts Sunday morning as the crowds gathered at the Gorna Rositza, Sevlievo circuit after washout conditions for the qualifying on Saturday.
MX2
After a complete domination by Jeff Herlings at Valkenswaard two weeks previously it was a dream start for Britain and Raptor Titanium's Tommy Searle on the Floride Pro Circuit Monster Energy Kawasaki machine in MX2 race 1 as he sprinted off with the holeshot and established a commanding lead early on in the race. The Brit wasn't to have it all his own way though as front-brake problems became apparent midway through the race, handing the initiative to his team-mate and fellow Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Joel Roelants who seized the lead and eventually the race win, his first of the season. Searle's main championship rival Jeff Herlings on the Factory KTM Red Bull KTM also took the opportunity and passed Searle later in the race to take second, with Searle hanging on with a sizeable lead over the next man, Herling's fellow KTM Red Bull team-mate Van Horebeek, to take third. The next man on Raptor Titanium footpegs was Rockstar Bud Racing Kawasaki's Dylan Ferrandis in 8th.
The start to race 2 was a similar story with Searle grabbing the holeshot and taking an early lead, however a good start for Herlings meant it was a tight race right to the last few corners as Herlings made repeated challenges for the lead throughout the race, but dogged determination and resilience from Searle and some mistakes from Herlings proved to be the difference in the second race as Searle got his first GP win of the season, and the overall GP victory for the weekend, edging out Herlings by just one point. Joel Roelents got a very hard-earned 4th place, dicing with former CLS Kawasaki man Max Anstie all race to grind out the overall 3rd for the day. It was a fantastic result for the Factory Husqvarna and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Alessandro Lupino as he managed 6th place, taking 10th overall.

After a shaky start at Valkenswaard, Raptor Titaniun sponsored rider Christophe Pourcel of Floride Pro Circuit Monster Energy Kawasaki dominated MX1 race 1, leading every lap and showing why he is a former world champion, using his ultra-smooth technique to increase his lead further and further throughout the race to his eventual first race win of the season. Behind Pourcel was fellow Kawasaki and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Gautier Paulin of the Factory Kawasaki Racing Team, dicing with the current world champion Antonio Cairoli of Factory KTM Red Bull and beating the Italian convincingly to take 2nd in race 1. Paulin's team-mate and fellow Kawasaki Racing Team and Raptor Titanium rider Xavier Boog had a good race too, getting 6th in the first race. Raptor Titanium riders Greg Aranda, Shaun Simpson and Kevin Strijbos got 10th, 11th and 12th place respectively.
Like MX2, it was a similar story in race 2 as Floride Pro Circuit Monster Energy Kawasaki started in the lead again, with Pourcel storming out early, however he didn't have it all his own way as KRT's Paulin had an incredibly quick race, using a combination of strength and speed to hold off Pourcel until the chequered flag, getting his first GP win (tying on first points with Pourcel) on the board this season and his second overall career GP victory after last year's wild card entry at Fermo, Italy. Cairoli managed to thwart a podium spot for his team-mate Ken De Dycker as he took third in race 2 and overall for the GP.
With an overall win and third overall in MX2 and 1 & 2 on the podium in MX1 for Raptor Titanium sponsored riders this weekend, with also an overall 6th for Xavier Boog, 9th for Shaun Simpson and 10th for Sebastian Pourcel it was a fantastic result for our sponsored teams and riders, and makes for a truly exciting championship in both classes as the championship moves onto Fermo next weekend.

Raptor Titanium's Justin Barcia crowned 2012 East Lites Champion with back-to-back wins in the Championship
250 East Lites 15 Lap Main Event
It only took fourth place to secure the title win for Justin Barcia on Saturday night, with the upcoming Alex Martin able to pull the holeshot from an outside position, swinging around the first turn, followed by Darryn Durham and Malcom Stewart. Martin was able to hold the lead for one lap before being overtaken by Durham, Stewart, and Barcia. Durham quickly opened a comfortable lead on Stewart who was running strong in second place while Barcia seemed to be riding protectively in third.
On lap four, Stewart made a big mistake in the whoops, cartwheeling off the track and ending his night early. This handed second place to Barcia, but he was soon under pressure from both Blake Bagget and Raptor Titanium's Ken Roczen. For several laps, the two riders hounded Barcia until both were able to pass the defending champion in the turn before the whoops.
Shortly thereafter, Durham made a mistake while in the lead, running into some tuff blocks before the first triple. The incident forced him to double the triple jump and allowed his teammate, Baggett to move within striking distance. For the remaining several laps the two riders within one seconds of one another. In the final lap, Baggett tried to stuff Durham in a corner, but the move didn't stick. Durham held on for the first win of his career. Baggett and Justin Bogle completed the podium while Barcia and Roczen finished out the top five.

450 Supercross 20 lap Main Event
2012 SX Champion Ryan Villopoto was able to take the holeshot followed by a fantastic start from Hart & Huntington Kawasaki and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Josh Grant as well as Raptor Titanium's Mike Alessi in third. Several other riders caught caught up in a first turn crash while Weimer had troubles of his own on the first lap, going off the track after the first triple, then sliding out on the slick stadium floor concrete.
Meanwhile, a few riders who had poor starts, such as Justin Brayton and Andrew Short, were working their way up through the pack. By the midway point, the two riders were up to fourth and fifth, followed by Brett Metcalfe, Nico Izzi, and Davi Millsaps. Metcalfe was eventually able to make a pass on Short on lap 12 to move into fifth place.
While Villopoto continued to runaway with the lead, Grant was quietly having his best race of the last several years, looking smooth and consistent in second place. Alessi was also enjoying his best race of the season until Justin Sipes, who was being lapped and should have moved out of the way for the faster rider, got in the way. The two riders came togther in the turn between the two on/off jumps, with only Alessi falling to the ground. The collision dropped Alessi to 14th place and Brayton inherited the final podium position.
At the finish it was Villopoto with his ninth win of the season. Grant took second and Brayton third. Short and Metcalfe completed the top five.

FIM World MX GP Championship kicks off at Valkenswaard; Raptor Titanium sponsored riders secured second and third in MX2 and fourth and fifth in MX1
MX2
It was all about the factory KTM Red Bull ace Jeff Herlings in the MX2 class last weekend at the opening round of the World MX GP Championship as he dominated qualifying and both GP races to take a commanding lead going into the second round in Bulgaria this weekend.
The real battle was between Raptor Titanium sponsored riders Tommy Searle and Joel Roelants from Floride Moto Monster Energy Kawasaki as they scrapped for second place in both races, Roelants taking second on the podium with a second in the final race, though both Roelants and Searle now go into the second GP joint second place on points.
The Raptor Titanium sponsored Monster Energy Bike It Cosworth Yamaha team went into the GP with mixed feelings about the event with both contenders for the MX2 title as Arnaud Tonus and Zach Osborne are sidelined with injury. It was down to Mel Pocock to step up to the plate and he didn't disappoint, getting great starts in both races and putting in solid rides to secure 10th place overall.

It was the same story for the factory KTM Red Bull team in MX1 as Tony Cairoli cruised to victory on qualifying, and though he came up against some stiff competition on the rough sand of Valkenswaard from Factory Suzuki's Clement Desalle and Factory Yamaha's Steven Frossard, he dominated the event and, like Herlings, goes into round 2 with a comfortable points lead.
Raptor Titanium sponsored riders were represented excellently with Kawasaki Racing Team's Gautier Paulin battling to a fantastic fourth in the first race and after a bad start and a crash in the second race managed to fight through the field for a valiant seventh place, passing former world champions and title contenders for the 2012 season in the process. Paulin's team-mate and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Xavier Boog also didn't disappoint as he put in a good ride on the day in the tough conditions to secure an overall tenth place.
Right behind Paulin in the points was GP veteran and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider KTM UK's Kevin Strijbos, who led the first GP and was in the mix at the top in the second race after two blistering starts, getting his championship off to a brilliant start with a fifth.
Up there also was Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Shaun Simpson from the Monster Energy Bike It Cosworth Yamaha team who didn't disappoint with a great overall 8th place for the day, coping with the tough sand track better than most.
It was a disappointing day for Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Christophe Pourcel as he struggled to get to grips with the Valkenswaard sand and did not dispplay his full potential, however we look forward to Bulgaria this weekend with confidence the former World and AMA champion will improve.

Another great event in the 2012 British MX Championship at Canada Heights
Riders on Raptor Titanium footpegs once again blitzed the field as the majority of the riders in the MX1 and MX2 classes were on Raptor Titanium footpegs, and they came in very handy indeed in the dicey conditions on the course sand track at Canada Heights, Kent at the weekend.
MX2
It was to be another weekend of perfect weather as the first race got under-way, however disaster struck for the Raptor Titanium sponsored Monster Energy Cosworth Yamaha team as Arnaud Tonus, winner of two races at Fat Cats two weeks previously, tumbled out of the first race in the opening laps, injuring his wrist and breaking a rib which will put in doubt whether he will be able to participate in the opening round of the 2012 FIM World MX Championship next week at Valkenswaard. This follows news of their other MX2 ace Zach Osborne being forced to travel back the US after sustaining heavy injuries in practise earlier in the week.
Arnaud's early exit blew the competition wide open in the MX2 class and it was a scramble for the victory in the first race as Monster Energy Yamaha team's only man left in the running, Mel Pocock, battled amongst fellow Raptor Titanium sponsored riders Nicholas Aubin, Elliot Banks-Browne and Neville Bradshaw. Aubin prevailed in the end after a crash by EBB in the closing stages and Pocock and Bradshaw having dropped off.
It was much more open in the second MX2 race as EBB and Pocock quickly asserted an early lead over the rest of the field and diced for a few laps before EBB's 250 KTM seemed to inexplicably stop for a few seconds, handing the lead to Pocock. EBB wasn't disheartened however, and came back even faster, eventually re-overtaking Pocock to claim the win.
The Raptor Titanium and HM Plant KTM UK rider then dominated the final race as he took the holeshot and wasn't threatened at all as he commanded the final race onto his overall victory for the day. The final MX2 race was red flagged towards the end due to a crash.

It was just as close, if not closer, in the MX1 class as there were three different winners in each race from different teams, on different bikes and none of them were the first round's dominant overall winner Kevin Strijbos, the only thing they seemingly having in common was that they all were using Raptor Titanium footpegs.
It was World MX GP veteran and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Stephen Sword of Tyco Suzuki who grabbed the holeshot in the first race, and looked in commanding form as the rest of the pack jostled for position further back. Raptor Titanium's Kevin Strijbos got off to a horrible start out of the first corner and had to battle up from the back, eventually claiming a ninth position. Sword held out in the lead for most of the race, but fellow Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Marc De Reuver of Lanes Kawasaki managed to prise the victory from him in the closing laps.
The second race was all about Raptor Titanium sponsored riders Mattis Karro and Kevin Strijbos, the two KTM riders having an unbelievably close race, with Karro just edging the Belgian to claim the second race.
Karro looked set to get two in a row in the final race as he sprinted out into the lead with his second holeshot of the day, however Raptor Titanium and Yamaha's Shaun Simpson was right on his tail and pressured the Latvian into a mistake midway through the race, handing the Scotsman his first victory of the season. Karro, shaken by the pressure that caused him to surrender the lead, was then passed by Strijbos shortly adfter and managed to cling on for a well-deserved third place and the overall win for the day. Stephen Sword's consistency paid off and he got himself a well-earned place on the second step of the podium, with Shaun Simpson rounding off an all Raptor Titanium rider podium for the day, with the top nine all using Raptor Titanium footpegs.

Roczen claims first win of the 2012 AMA SX season at Houston
250 East 15 lap Main Event
It was Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Justin Barcia who again took the holeshot followed by fellow Raptor Titanium sponsored riders Ken Roczen and Blake Wharton.
Roczen was not ready to let Barcia go this time around, as he was able to overtake first place briefly until he made a mistake going through the rhythm section which allowed Barcia to come back and take back the lead.
The defending champ took advantage of the opportunity by putting some distance between himself and the German World Champion.
Meanwhile Wharton began losing ground to Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Blake Baggett, who was the fastest qualifier of the day. The Kawasaki rider was eventually able to take over third place and set his sights upon Roczen in second. As the laps wore on the lead grew and shrunk but Roczen was able to hold his ground.
On the final lap, Barcia was clearly well out in front and looked to have his sixth win of the season locked up until the number one machine had a run in with a lapped rider, Lance Vincent, and went down with only three turns remaining. Roczen took full advantage of the mistake and took the lead and the victory while Barcia was able to remount for second. Baggett rounded out the podium and Wharton and Phil Nicoletti completed the top five.

Davi Millsaps snatched another holeshot and was able to secure another great start ahead of Villopoto and Raptor Titanium's Mike Alessi.
James Stewart meanwhile did not get the greatest of starts and seemed to struggle with other riders in the opening laps. While Villopoto quickly began to put distance between himself and Millsaps, Stewart slowly began to make his way through the pack and remained unchallenged and secured the win and the 2012 AMA Supercross title with four rounds still to go.
Raptor Titanium's Mike Alessi got an excellent result finishing in fourth place and Raptor Titanium and Star Valli Yamaha rider Nico Izzi had a great race with an eight place finish.
