TOMMY SEARLE CLOSES POINTS GAP ON HERLINGS IN MX2 AND DESALLE TAKES POINTS LEAD IN MX1 AS ROUND 9 OF 2012 FIM WORLD MX CHAMPIONSHIP GOES TO SWEDEN

More of the same, weather-wise, unfortunately greeted motocross fans at Uddevalla as the characteristic rainy conditions seen at many of the events this year plagued the Swedish round of the championship, making conditions very tough once again for the riders and teams involved.

MX2

It was Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Tommy Searle of Floride Pro Circuit Monster Energy Kawasaki who once again took another overall win to close down series leader and championship rival Jeff Herlings of KTM Red Bull to bring the Dutchman to just 16 points ahead going into Round 10 at Latvia next weekend.

Herlings got the better of Searle in the first race, managing to pass him and go on to win the first moto, however crashed with his team-mates at the beginning of the second race, having to battle his way up to 7th place and 2nd overall for the day. Searle took a 2-1 result on the day and the overall win.

Raptor Titanium sponsored riders had a good day further down the field as well, as Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Dylan Ferrandis of Bud Racing Kawasaki got 3rd overall on the podium with a 4-3 result. It was an astonishingly successful return to racing for Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Zach Osborne of Bike It Cosworth Monster Energy Yamaha, who scored 5-5 on the day to collect 5th overall in his first race in GP's this year after repeated injuries. Searle's team-mate and fellow Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Joel Roelants scored 7th overall.

MX1

It was Rockstar Energy Suzuki's Clement Desalle who has seemed to have finally found his rhythm and winning ways in Sweden as he scored 1-1 and the overall win in MX1, sweeping away the competition. Desalle has been quietly racking up the points all season so far, and now looks very good in the title race. Antonio Cairoli had a rotten weekend, scoring two DNF's for the first time in his career due to a rock getting jammed in his wheel in race 1 and a heavy crash in Race 2 saw him unable to continue, meaning his huge points lead going to Sweden is now erased and he loses the red plate to Desalle.

Raptor Titanium sponsored riders once again littered the top ten, with Christophe Pourcel of CP377 Monster Energy Kawasaki taking a 2-2 result behind Desalle to take overall 2nd and maintains 3rd in the Championship points standings.

Another 3rd place podium spot for Raptor Titanium's Kevin Strijbos of HM Plant KTM UK continues Kevin's fantastic run of form at the moment at British and World Championship level. Christophe Pourcel's team-mate, brother and fellow Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Sebastian Pourcel scored a 4th overall on the day, and another great result for Steve Dixon's Bike It Cosworth Monster Energy Yamaha and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Shaun Simpson who managed an impressive 5th overall on the day.

Gautier Paulin of the Kawasaki Racing Team battled to 7th overall to keep a consistent points tally, with team-mate Xavier Boog scoring 8th overall. A fantastic result for Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Marc De Reuver of the Lanes Kawasaki Racing Team who managed an overall 10th place on the day, a great result for him.

This meant that 7 of the top 10 in MX1 were on Raptor Titanium footpegs, an excellent for us!
